We are nearly 4 months into 2018 and have had so many awesome game releases already.
We’ve had big games released such as Monster Hunter World, Dragon Ball Fighterz, Shadow of the Colossus, Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom and as of 2 days ago Farcry 5. These titles and more have been a result of the last 3 months. Being almost April that means there is another 8 months left of the year and so many exciting games to come. So why not tell you what I am personally excited for?
- God of War
- Detroit: Become Human
- Shadow of the Tomb Raider
God of War – I am excited for this game because I have never played any of the previous ones before, nor have I played anything of the sort. I don’t know much about Norse Mythology but lately I have slowly gained an interest thanks to Thor and his gorgeous Universe. Although I don’t know much about it I am sure I will learn more with this magnificent title. I love games with a strong story so I am very excited to delve into the world of Kratos.
Detroit: Become Human – I love games with a tell-tale basis. I am really looking forward to learning more about this story and how the androids slowly show signs of feelings and emotion and how that will affect the game. There are many different ways to play through this game with different characters and I am really keen to see how my story progresses. There has been some controversy about this game and some of the content referring to domestic violence so it will be interesting to see how full on this game is.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider – Lara Croft is my heroine. She is my adventure idol and I have fallen in love with the PS4 series. I never played any of the older Tomb Raider games but I am so excited for the third part of this trilogy. Tomb Raider Definitive Edition was the first combat game I played when I first purchased a PS4 and it sparked a different side of me in games as I never played combat games growing up (Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario don’t classify as combat games to me regardless of killing bad guys – they are pure platform games).
- Super Smash Bros.
- Mario Tennis Aces
- Minecraft for the Switch
- Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
- Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
Yoshi – I love Yoshi. It is a classic platform game that you can constantly go back and play. I love the way Yoshi has evolved graphically and from the trailers we have seen so far, the Switch version of Yoshi looks incredible. I am just really excited to have some more family friendly titles for the Switch.
Super Smash Bros. – I have never been a Smash fan (don’t judge me). It was a game I never owned until my little brother had it for the 3DS. I feel like it will play so nicely on the Switch especially with other people and I am really looking forward to having another party game.
Mario Tennis Aces – Some may think that the Mario Tennis games are a waste of time. I remember playing the Wii version and loving it. This title looks great because it has a story mode and boss battles which I think will make for a great game.
Minecraft for the Switch – I’ve never played Minecraft. I also have never thought much good of the game until joining the Instagram community and seeing other people’s enjoyment and creations. I do love building things in games (The Sims for example) so I think it may be my time to play this game. I think it will be the perfect game to play on the Switch in portable mode.
Captain Toad Treasure Tracker – I never played it or owned it on Wii U and I loved the Captain Toad moments in Super Mario 3D World. Looking forward to this puzzle style game.
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze – I briefly played this on the Wii U and did enjoy it but never dedicated enough time to playing it. This will be another good title to play on the go and with friends.
- Luigi’s Mansion
Luigi’s Mansion – I never had a Gamecube and this is the one game I have always wanted to own. I love Luigi’s Mansion 2 and really am looking forward to playing the first one. However I wish it was being released on the Switch rather than the 3DS.
Are you looking forward to any of these titles as well? It’s going to be a jam packed year especially with E3 around the corner. Here’s to a fabulous year of gaming!
